Il Brunello di Montalcino Poggio al Vento 2016 di Col d’Orcia (“The Enthusiast 100”) è stato scelto da Daniele Callegari perché “The nose is primarily savory, with aromas of old leather, dirt and mixed spices, like a general store in the Old West with cherry and licorice candy in bins. The palate is more fruit-forward, with notes of cherries and figs, with currents of coffee and sambuca mingling to create a subtle sense of edginess. Tannins and acid oversee affairs without intruding, like a good party host”.
Jeff Porter ha recensito invece Barbaresco Riserva Santo Stefano Albesani 2019 di Castello di Neive. “Elegance and purity unite in this wine as focused aromas of wild cherries, potpourri, and drying rose buds lift from the glass. The palate, soft and gentle yet poised, reveals a depth beyond its initial impression. A foundation of raspberry, sweet spices, dried herbs, rosewood, and espresso bean lingers on the enduring finish, inviting one to savor every sip of this remarkable wine. Drink Now until who knows?”
Il Lambrusco Piria 2023 di Paltrinieri (“Best Buys 2024”) è stato scelto sempre da Porter perché “The nose of this stunning frizzante reveals a distinct interplay between fresh bay leaf, thyme, and crushed cherries, delicately sprinkled with rose petals. On the palate, it offers a mouthwatering mix of freshly chopped raspberries, green herbs, and a hint of white pepper, accompanied by subtle gamy notes. Versatile and delightful, it pairs wonderfully with a range of dishes, from pizza to sushi, promising to please all palates”.
Ancora secondo Jeff Porter, questo vino è un “must-have for any Nebbiolo lover, opening with aromas of reconstituted cherries bathed in sweet and savory spices and dried rosebuds. Supple tannins gently coat the palate, while the plush red fruit notes roll around with sweet tea and dried leaf notes on the sublime finish. Drink now in perpetuity”.
